The durational strategy is a model for implementing public art as part of urban rehabilitation are able to create platforms for communication that will help the social aspects of rehabilitation to arise and allow the process to become flexible. The chain of interconnected public art actions (12 interventions) developed in the duration of 4 years are set up in strong connection to the social-economical and environmental aims of the rehabilitation and act as acupuncture points that constantly activate the city part. The actions create the possibility for new social connections to develop and act as communicational surfaces through which local knowledge can be devised that can be incorporated in future plans and designs of the rehabilitation. The actions reflect on aims of the rehabilitation and cultural heritage and potential of the area and inspire inner courtyards to be renewed. They also become tools for modelling alternative space usages, drawing attention to the communal role of public spaces. The aim is to turn the city part into an ever evolving, interactive gallery, enhancing local economy and culture.
